A foam is a dispersion of gas bubbles in a liquid or solid.
26
Another way to define a foam is a substance that is formed by trapping many gas bubbles in a liquid or solid.
27
There are typically so many bubbles that it is impossible to distinguish separate bubbles with the naked eye. Foams are typically disorganized with a wide variety of bubble sizes. Foam has many practical applications as insulation, packing material, cleansers for body and dish, and as a fire retardant. Examples of foam in food are whipped cream, souffl¨és, bread, and the foam at the top of a glass if you pour warm soda into it.
