NEW HAVEN, CT - Twenty-one New Haven Public Schools teachers have completed the Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute’s 2025 program.

Since 1978, the Teachers Institute has offered its distinctive and pioneering brand of content-based professional development to New Haven teachers. Each teacher - named an Institute Fellow - participated in one of our seminars led by Yale faculty and developed a curriculum unit to teach to their students in the coming year. All Fellows received a Yale ID card, borrowing privileges at the University Library, and access to campus facilities and resources. Throughout the spring, Fellows attended their seminars, as well as talks and workshops. On September 30, 2025, they will return to campus for a Fellow showcase and reception to celebrate their achievements.

The Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute was established in 1978 through the grassroots efforts of New Haven public school teachers. Each year, the Institute offers seminars in the humanities and STEM led by Yale University faculty. Backed by rigorous evaluations over more than three decades, the Teachers Institute approach strengthens teaching, student engagement, and teacher retention. It also increases teachers’ morale and enthusiasm, as well as their standards and expectations of their students. Since 1978, 845 New Haven Public Schools teachers have written 2,179 curriculum units in 244 Institute seminars led by 137 Yale faculty.
