This curriculum unit is on the energy crisis. It is a problem that cuts across all boundaries; rich and poor, young and old, black and white. This section is a tool to awaken the students’ curiosity in a massive dilemma. It can be used at different grade levels and subjects. It begins with an examination of the problem, its causes and its scope. It continues by discussing the national and international implications. Throughout the unit the various conventional energy sources are thoroughly examined as well as the alternate energy sources. The finale deals with possible short-term solutions and long-term solutions.
(Recommended for Science and Social Studies, 5th through 10th grade level.)
