In Activity One, students will discover details about each version of The Mitten through a series of questions, drawing out pertinent information.

In Activities Two and Three, students will retell the story through sequencing the animals in the order that they climb into the mitten and by performing the story as an animal they choose to draw and portray.

With prompting and support, identify characters, settings, and major events in a story.
In the retelling of the story, students will identify the main character, when and where he loses his mitten, which animals climb inside the lost mitten, and how they interact with each other throughout the story.

Students will be introduced to two versions of The Mitten, identifying what is the same and what is different, creating a chart to compare their findings.
