Give FeedbackGoals of the Unit
The goals of the unit are to build a better classroom community through finding commonalities, fostering a sense of belonging and developing better relationships. It is the intent of the unit that the students engage in rich conversations about topics that are relevant to the interests of the students in order to build knowledge and share common experiences. It is ideal if the students come up with meaningful questions that they can ask of their peers and decide which ones are not meaningful to ask.
These questions can provide a chance for students to talk openly about how they experience community at home and whether or not their neighborhood supports its families during times of need, hardship, or joy. The unit will attempt to obtain these goals not only through application of these strategies, but through cooperative learning projects filtered in throughout the duration of the unit.
