is a wonderful resource for teachers who want to create an interdisciplinary unit for their students. I developed the unit because I wanted address the Responding and Connecting processes from the National Core Arts Standards. If a teacher chooses to complete this entire unit, students are also addressing the Creating and Performing standards. This unit is very flexible, and the activities surrounding the concept of identity would work for characters from any text. Since so much of Andrew's identity revolves around music, it is the perfect starting point for my students, and I am excited to teach this unit. I would encourage all teachers to use this document as written, or as a guide to reach out to other subject-area teachers to create new, interesting, authentic units.
